Notes to all writers:
- Copy editing is guaranteed; the author may expect full critique and accompanying commentary of the following:
- Plot progression (if applicable)
- Narrative Structure
- Pacing/Flow
- Character Development (if the characters belong to the author; usu. manuscripts only)
- Dialogue (if the dialogue is the author's; usu. manuscripts only)
- Mechanics
- Writer's Voice
- Writing Style
- Setting (if applicable)
- I do not provide line editing (i.e. I will not perform full manuscript revisions for the author.)
- Failure
to comply with general guidelines will
result in no response. The invalid submission will be deleted
from any files without further discussion.
- Continuation is encouraged: I don't require a piece to be fully completed to see it, and if you have ten chapters and wish to continue, please feel free to send me more of your work as it is completed.
- Sending chapters twenty pages or longer separately is recommended, or you should expect a slightly longer waiting period.
- Keep a copy of your original when you send it, should it be lost, drastically changed, etc.
- Variations in
the English language (e.g. American vs. British English) will be noted
and worked with according to author preference, unless the author has
none, in which case I will work as I am familiar.
- I provide
summaries and footnotes with every submission return and will use a
fine-toothed comb to pick your submission apart. Come in able to
take criticism on your writing: I do not hesitate with due compliments,
but I will not sugarcoat issues simply to please you or your ego.
- Consultation is available; see here for further information
- Please check
back here before you send in submissions, should there be
changes. Large changes will warrant an announcement on my part,
but keeping up with information is the responsibility of the author.
If you have read through these guidelines, you may proceed to send
your submission.
If you have any questions regarding these guidelines,
please feel free to contact me and ask.
