The
funny thing about writing is that readers expect it to sound a certain
way. Perhaps the equally odd thing about it is that what sounds
like Nobel-prize-winning material in your head usually hits paper
sounding about fit for beginning grammar classes. We have all
been there, unfortunately, and all we can do is cross our fingers and
pray that even Jane Austen herself had to go through half a hundred
drafts and a lot of paper in the trash bin.
Allow me to help you there - I may not be able to connect with the dead and get you an interview with Austen, but I can
endeavor to perfect your text and enable your ideas to come through as
you intended. Send in drafts of your work - essays, articles,
manuscripts, etc. - and I will pull it apart with a toothpick, keeping in
touch with you to ensure mutual understanding of the work being done. My ultimate goal is to retain your original intent and tone.
I have been providing editing
services on an official scale since 2003, working primarily on an
academic and short story level, and have since begun to expand that
field of work. While I work solely in English, I do have a working knowledge of French and a basic
understanding of a number of other languages.
